I have been working on this book for such a long time now, and I’m excited to finally be able to share it with you! I’m also thrilled that I’ve found the perfect press, Atthis Arts, to bring my vision to life.
My new book takes a special, nighttime story that I’ve written, and surrounds it with my mixed media artworks, combining traditional ink drawing, hand-painted backgrounds, and digital coloring and editing. This collection includes artworks from my entire 10-year career, as well as new pieces I’ve created specifically for this book.
Faraway Dreaming is a whimsical, poetic journey of my love letter to dreams, surrounded by my favourite nighttime illustrations. Evening is my favorite time of the day, when the busy world calms down. I love when the light turns pastel and then slowly fades into the dusk, when stars light up in the sky and imagination evokes mysterious life in the shadows.
Drawing always brings me profound solace, a way to escape the overwhelming world. I draw intuitively most of the time, and sometimes I wonder how those drawings come to me. When I draw, it feels like dreaming. I think the images come from a lost child within me, the one that never grows old, seeks to be safe, yet keeps wandering on, deeper and deeper into the wilderness.
