I used so-called “tradigital” mixed media with these paintings – I made the backgrounds and some of the details traditionally with inks and coloured pencils, and then continued working on the illustrations digitally, using various editing and drawing tools to bring the layers together as a whole.
I often combine traditional and digital media with commissions and any illustration work where I need more control and options throughout the process. Overall it’s a complicated technique, but also one that allows much more editing freedom, compared to entirely traditional painting process.

I originally created these three illustrations as a cover art commission for the Dolmenwood core books written by Gavin Norman. It’s is a tabletop role playing game set in a fantasy world inspired by the fairy tales and eerie folklore of the British Isles.
These were some of my favourite commission pieces to work on! ♥
